The new local Veterans Service Office in Dunn County introduced itself to the community Wednesday during an open house at the High Plains Cultural Center in Killdeer.
For about six years, Dunn County Veterans have been traveling to the Stark County Office in Dickinson for services.
Dunn County has more than 150 veterans, and it was announced in October by the Dunn County Commission that a local office would be opening in Killdeer.
Veterans will now be able to get access to assistance in a more timely manner.
“It’s important for the veterans of Dunn County, because a lot of them are elderly, and its hard for them to get down to Stark County,” said Melissa Pavilicek, Dunn County Veterans Service officer.
This Summer the Dunn County Veterans Service office will be moving to the local courthouse in Manning, which is currently being remodeled.
