I spoke with the Mandan Public Schools Superintendent, Mike Bitz, who said over the last 8 years, numbers have continuously been on the rise.
The total number of students enrolled for this year, K-12 is 3,737.
That’s 80 more than last year.
Bitz says right now, there’s a trend in kindergarten and first grade classes increasing a little bit more dramatically than the upperclassmen.
He says the growth projection is at a comfortable number right now.
“We’d be up about 70, 80 students. That’d be about 2% growth for us, which is just a nice, manageable number. When you divide that over 8 buildings and 13 grades, it’s just a real number that we can work with,” said Mike Bitz, Superintendent.
He said on average, about 25 students total have been enrolling per day – but, of course, they lose a few as well as students move or graduate.
Classes for Mandan Public Schools start next Thursday, August 24.
