148 thousand new tech businesses start up every month around the globe…

That’s according to Scott Brown – an entrepreneur from Colorado who was recently in North Dakota to speak at a TED Talk.

Emily Medalen tells us why he says North Dakota is a great place to set yourself up for success in a growing tech industry.
148 thousand tech startups – that’s a huge number.
With all that innovation, it can be hard to think about what’s going to be the next big thing.
That was the topic of Brown’s TED talk in Bismarck – how to come up with innovative ideas for a new business.
He has traveled the world to give advice to young entrepreneurs –
and he says North Dakota’s booming economy is the perfect set up for those who are willing to take a small risk for a big reward.
“Today, startup entrepreneurs or somebody with a great idea, all they need is a gigabyte, a connection to the internet, and a willingness to try… and that’s what’s happening here in Bismarck. The Start Bismarck program, the TedX Bismarck program that I participated in, code connect…There are all of these amazing things happening here that are going to create this ground swell of entrepreneurship,” says Scott Brown, Entrepreneur.
