One of the area’s largest churches is set to get even bigger.
Evangel Church in Bismarck is moving forward with an expansion project that will create a bigger lobby area, nursery, and a 1,500 seat auditorium.
The church has about 2,200 members.
Phase 1 will cost $16 million, with the money coming from the congregation and fundraisers.
“At the end of the day it’s not about the building or the price tag, it is about people,” says Josh Skjoldal, Lead Pastor at Evangel. “The motto of our church is to connect real people to a real God. We know that there is a lot of healthy churches but we know there is a lot of people that have not found a good church family or have not connected to God. For some reason, God has allowed us to do that.”
The church will break ground on the expansion project the week after Easter.
The expansion plan was presented to the Bismarck city commission, but it has not yet been approved.
