Explosion in rural Williston leads to injuries

The William’s County Sheriff’s Department says two people were injured during Wednesday’s explosion in rural Williston.

The explosion happened at 11:30 am.

The incident occurred in a shop at 5307 151st Ave NW in rural Williston.

That address links to the business, Stellar Field Service Inc.

A phone call to the business said, they would not comment on the incident.

Two employees were injured and taken to St. Alexius in Williston. They have possibly been flown to another facility according to a William’s County Sheriff’s Department Press Release.

OSHA has been notified.

According to the Williston Fire Department, a couple of people were transported to the hospital following an explosion near Grenora, North Dakota. 

The injured were flown out of the Williston Hospital for more care.

The explosion was near a business, however, the department did not say what business was affected.

The Williams County Sheriff’s Department says they don’t know the cause but a volatile material seems to be involved.

The area is not highly populated. The city of Grenora is about 250 people.

No fire or flames were seen and the Williams County Sheriff’s Department is on the scene along with the Fire Department.

The Bismarck OSHA office had not received word of a worksite explosion as of 2:45 Wednesday afternoon. 

Scott Overson with the Bismarck OSHA office says workplace injuries are required to be reported within 24 hours.

The department was unable to give an exact number of patients and injuries when we called.
