Fatal accident shuts down highway for hours

Williston, ND – A little before 12:30 this afternoon an accident happened that shut down Highway 85 for almost 5 hours.

It happened just south of Williston. According to the highway patrol, a freight liner, a Peterbilt, and a pickup where all traveling north on Highway 85. The pickup and the Peterbilt were slowing down while traffic was merging for some construction ahead. The freight liner ran into the back of the pickup and pushed it up on to the back of the Peterbilt’s trailer and the freight liner came to rest on top of the pickup.

The driver of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene. He is 58 years old and from Alexander, North Dakota. The crash is under investigation. No names will be released until family is notified.
