There are thousands of men and women who leave their families to fight for our freedoms.
We met one man who’s a husband and father and now that he’s coming home, he has a big surprise his family will never forget.
Alexus Larson was there to capture the moment.
“It’s always hard being away from family,” said Matthew Knight, Husband & Father.
“It’s been six long months, ” said Annette Knight, Wife & Mother.
Matthew Knight is in the Air Force and just finished his second deployment. The day that he left, his wife, Annette was already planning for the day he got back.
“I just see a bunch of the homecoming surprises online and that’s something that my kids deserve,” said Annette.
The plan is to surprise their three kids; Alivia, Ares, and Jaxon at school. The TGU staff was in on the plan and they had every student fill the gym for what they thought was going to be a pep rally.
“It’s good for the kids. They deserve it and have been through a lot,” said Matthew.
The senior boys were going to conduct a skit that required six volunteers and of course 3 of those volunteers were the Knight kids. As they stood in front of the crowd, ready to do a skit, mom and dad came from behind giving them a surprise they were never expecting.
“Happy. Excited,” said Alivia Knight, 11 Years Old.
“Happy,” said Jaxon Knight, 5 Years Old.
“I just felt so happy,” said Ares Knight, 9 Years Old.
“It means a lot to me and my family to have everybody a part of it. You’re a part of this family, a part of this moment,” said Matthew.
After six months of being away from his family his wife got her partner, his kids got their dad, and he got his whole family back in his arms.
Today also marks Matthew’s birthday.
