Fire at oil well site in Dunn County

A tower of black smoke could be seen in Dunn County this afternoon.

According to the Dunn County Emergency Manager Denise Brew, the fire is located at a Marathon Oil well site six miles NW of Manning, ND.

Zac Weis, Government and Community Relations Manager for Marathon Oil, said the fire was reported to emergency responders around 11 a.m

By 11.30 am people in the area could see towers of black smoke and flames from the road.

Weis said no one was on site when the fire occurred that he knows of and no injuries have been reported.

Someone from KX News who was in the area reports the fire is in a rural area of the county away from any major roads and structures.

The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office and West Dunn Fire District immediately responded to the fire, and Weis said the fire has been contained to the well site, and they are going to let the fire burn out.
