Ward County commissioners have voted to implement restrictions on burning, based on the daily fire danger index.
The county’s emergency manager asked commissioners to take the step as a way to allow burning when conditions are safe, but outlaw it when the fire danger rises.
(Amanda Schooling, Ward County Emergency Manager) “Right now we’re at LOW, because of the humidity and the cooler temperatures this morning so as of today you could burn. But with this weekend getting back up into the 90s and the winds increasing, that might be putting us into HIGH or VERY HIGH.”
