The first in a series of candidate forums was held in Williston this evening.

Three Republican candidates for District 1 state representative answered questions and presented their views on issues. The candidates, incumbent Patrick Hatlestad, Deanette Piesik, and David Richter, are running for two spots in the general election.

Some in attendance already had their minds made up, while others were hoping to learn more about the candidates from the forum,

“I just expect them to stand up and tell me what they stand for. If they go to Bismarck, what are they going to do for me,” says Williston resident, Howard Isakson.

The election will be held June 12. The next candidate forum will be held tomorrow evening at the Williston ARC at 6 p.m. for city and county commission race.
