KX News welcomes back to the news desk Alysia Huck, new morning anchor for Good Day Dakota.  Starting Wednesday, June 7th, Alysia will replace long time anchor-reporter Amber Schatz, who decided to step away for broadcasting to raise her family.

A North Dakota native, Alysia Huck made her way home from St. Louis, Missouri in 2009 when she began anchoring and producing the evening news for KXMC in Minot.

With a growing family, Alysia changed paths in 2013 and worked as the director of public information for Minot State University and most recently as the director of public information for the North Dakota Department of Health. The circle of life then translated to the circle of careers, and she was called home to the KX family in Bismarck.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in music with a minor in speech, communication and theater arts from Valley City State University in 2000. While living in Fairbanks, Alaska, she completed coursework toward a Master of Music degree and later earned a professional arts certificate in broadcasting from Broadcast Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

Alysia says she is eager to get back in the studio and pick up where she left off. “I am elated to be back with the KX family! I truly feel like I am coming home. Journalism is my first love, as it gives me the opportunity to connect with a community and region, educating and informing people of what’s happening around them. And even better, I get to do all of this with an incredible team of professionals.” says Alysia.

Alysia is married with two children. Outside of work, she enjoys singing, outdoor activities, camping and fishing, volunteering in the community, and most of all, spending time with her family.
