Two outdoor photographers have captured an amazing sequence of events that illustrate the raw power of nature’s food chain.

In photos and video taken at the San Juan Island National Historical Park in Washington, Zachary Hartje and Kevin Ebi show a red fox running off with a rabbit it had just snared in its mouth.

All of a sudden, a bald eagle swoops down and snatched the rabbit from the fox.

But the fox holds on as the eagle rises about 20 feet off the ground.

About eight seconds later, the fox loses its grip on the rabbit and falls to the ground and the eagle flies off.

According to the photographers, the fox didn’t appear to have been injured in the fall.

The video and photos were posted in a blog that has gone viral.

The photo sequence and blog notes can be accessed here.
