When school is back in session, it’s safe to say most of the students are anxiously waiting for that first Friday night football game.
Teams all over North Dakota are getting ready for kickoff tonight – and here in Bismarck, Century and Legacy high schools have their first games right here at home.
The players told me they put in lots of work during the off season, so that their senior year can be their best year yet.
Here’s what these seniors have to say about what they’re looking forward to the most.
“You know, it’s Friday night lights… there’s nothing better,” says Diamonte Stugelmeyer, Legacy High School.
“It’s kind of weird that this is going to be the last time that we’re going to be in high school watching a football game, or going to school for the last day, it’s just crazy how fast it went,” says Taryn Allmaras, LHS.
“As a senior now, we can lead the student section and be in the front, and we pretty much know everyone out on the field now at the football games, so it’s fun to cheer them on,” says Ashley Hulm, LHS.
“Friday night lights. There’s nothing like it. To have everyone there to support us gets the players more hyped, fans hyped… it’s a good atmosphere to be under the lights on a Friday night playing a football game,” says Gavin Sailer, LHS.
We’re excited for these guys, and for every team in the state getting prepared for tonight.
Bismarck Century will take on West Fargo Sheyenne tonight, and Legacy will play Grand Forks Red River- both games kick off at 7:00.
