COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – The nightime sky this weekend is illuminated by the Full Flower Moon, a true “Blue Moon,” based on the original definition in the old Maine Farmers’ Almanac that first appeared in the 19th century.
This weekend marks the third of four full moons during astronomical spring 2019. Another popular, though not technically correct, modern definition of Blue Moon is the second full moon in a given month.
The moon will not look blue, of course, but will be appear large and orange again Sunday night in a hazy sky. The full moon Saturday evening occurred at 6:11 p.m. (EDT), but will still be very luminous for a few more nights.
