In honor of World Breastfeeding week, mothers were invited to gather and breastfeed for the Global Big Latch On.

The event began in 2010 to support and promote breastfeeding in families and allow families to connect with others. Holly Johnson attended the event as a first-time mom three years ago and now she helps organize the Minot event with Bosom Buddies. Johnson credits the local breastfeeding group and the global latch on with helping her feel more comfortable feeding her baby.

“I probably wouldn’t have been as confident or gone as long as I did nursing, and so just having moms in the trenches doing the same thing that I was at four o’clock in the morning was really helpful for me,” says Holly Johnson, Bosom Buddies.

Nearly 10,000 children around the world were counted as breastfeeding during the one minute of the event.
