A request has been made by Governor Dalrymple which could mean job cuts for almost five hundred employees of the North Dakota University System.
The governor’s plan will be forwarded to legislators during the two thousand seventeen session. A spokesman with the North Dakota University System says if the legislature follows the plan – many of the cuts will come through attrition and unfilled vacancies. It’s estimated about 490 people could be affected. There may be changes to the classes as well.
“You’ll see fewer and fewer course offerings, you’ll see maybe larger classes or classes that aren’t available anymore because there just won’t be anyone left to teach them,” says Nick Archuleta, President of North Dakota United.
The budget for the upcoming biennium will be finalized during the 2017 legislative session.
