Dry conditions lead to a big grassfire in the northern part of the state.
It burned an estimated 150 acres this afternoon.
It started around 3:15 p.m. and a total of 6 departments were called in to help.
According to the Minot Rural Fire Department– the fire burned a 12 mile stretch along the railroad tracks between Surrey and Norwich.
Fire officials think it may have started from a train coming down the tracks.
The area is so dry, sparks from the wheels ignited the grass.
The fire is now under control, but fire crews are still on scene.
There are several acres still smoldering and several hay bales that need to be extinguished.
The department says there were 5 or 6 individual fires burning along the route.
