The former Wells County sheriff accused of bribery and conspiracy to deliver meth will finally get a chance to enter a plea next month.
Johnny Lawson was arrested in May and charged with two felonies and three misdemeanors.
In October, Lawson tried to plead guilty to a misdemeanor as part of a deal to drop the other charges but the judge in the case threw out the deal, saying the plea agreement wouldn’t serve justice in the case.
Since then, we’ve been waiting for a new date for Lawson’s preliminary hearing and arraignment, where he would enter pleas to the felony charges.
That’s now been set for March 26th in Fessenden.
