Hettinger County: Watching some ice jams, other high water issues

Hettinger County Emergency Management has posted an update and photos to its Facebook page on Cannonball River flooding at Mott.

The pictures show how the river has encroached into the Legion Park, and an ice jam right at the bridge.

There are two ice jams that are somewhat concerning, county officials write, but the temps are lower today with lower river volume from the west.

Juniper Drive is still blocked, plus a few other streets in West Mott.

There is some ditch pumping by the city shop and of course, ongoing monitoring of the situation, the county notes. West Mott residents were able to stay put through the night, knowing when and if it’s time to go, they will.
