High school is taking bids for student made lake cabin

Dickinson, ND

A group of students at Dickinson High are working on a project that’s a little bit bigger than a birdhouse.

Students (Hunter Allerdings, Devon Papineau, Braydon McWhorter, and Jose Gonzalez) are putting the finishing touches on a 14 X 22-foot lake cabin.

It is part of a project they are doing for their Construction Tech 2 class at their high school.

The cabin has been put up for sale on the school’s Facebook page for $18,000 minimum, and bids will be taken until February 22 at 4:00 PM.

The proceeds will go towards future class projects and student activities like Skills USA.

The students started working on the project this past September, and so far they are pleased with what they have accomplished.

“Seeing how it came from a bare concrete patch to an entire structure, it is very appealing and rewarding,” said McWhorter.

About eight students took part in the project, and they hope to put in a kitchen and bath area by the time they’re all done.
