A new bill could give every new born $5,000 to use later on for higher education.
It is a part of Senate bill 2141. The person has to be born in North Dakota and graduate from a North Dakota High School. Senator Oley Larsen who is sponsoring the bill says it will give people hope.
“It will keep them out of jail, they can not have a felony to get this type of funding. They can use it for only four things such as education, building homes, starting a business or for long term care,” said Oley Larsen, ND State Senate.
The fiscal note on this is 105 million dollars for every two years. The bill is still being evaluated and they will know if it will pass in a few weeks.
