High temperatures can create a big problem for just about everyone.

Especially firefighters who often wear layers of hot clothing and equipment.

Temperatures inside a burning building can easily reach several hundred degrees and when fighting wildfires, these firemen and women have to walk miles to make sure everything is put out.

The KX news team wanted to find out if they do anything different to stay cool in the summer months.
and as we found out they wear completely different gear than they would when fighting a structure fire.

“Dealing with wild lands it’s normally pretty hot outside but we’re going over rough terrain, we’re going through hills, fields, so it helps us be a little more versatile, carry more equipment, work a little bit longer that way,” said firefighter Jesse Miller.

Firefighters usually get all their gear on in under a minute
