HS FBall: Bismarck still feels like underdog despite last year’s second place finish

Last season, everyone counted the Bismarck Demons out, but it was Mark Gibson’s bunch that made it all the way to the Dakota Bowl.

This year,  the Demons are again looked at as an underdog.

They lost all-state running back Lucas Butts. They’re going to move Jalen Sprecher from defensive back to fill the void.

For a coach that’s won four Class AAA State championships, he knows that expectations are always through the roof at Bismarck.

“There’s a lot of pressure going to school here,” Coach Mark Gibson said, “because anytime you don’t win it. It’s almost like a failure season when it’s not and sometimes people don’t understand that.”

Bismarck opens the season next Saturday at home versus Davies.
