HS Fball: St. Mary’s eyes fourth state title in five years

This season, St. Mary’s football team will attempt to win their four Class AA state championship in five years.

St. Mary’s biggest challenge is replacing the size the lost up front on the offensive and defensive lines.

However, they have 18 seniors. Coach Dan Smrekar feels the fate of the season rest on how hard the seniors work.

“It all rides on the seniors,” Smrekar said. “What they buy into and what they want to get done. The whole team is lead by seniors.”

The defending Class AA state champs open the season at home against Grafton on Aug. 25
