HS VBall: Mandan looking for breakout season

It’s been a slow and steady rebuilding process for Mandan volleyball.

However, this is the year, they expect to make the state playoffs for the first time since 2014.

This week, the Braves had a huge turnout for tryouts and everyone is trying to earn a spot on the varsity roster.

Last season’s varsity team was inexperienced. This year, the depth of the program is encouraging for head coach Anna Folk.

Coach expects the team to make new strides.

“For us,” Folk said, “we had some young girls. We had a majority of sophomore teams and a couple of seniors. But we needed some experience, and I think we grew throughout the season.”

Next Friday, the Braves open their season at the Bismarck Crossover.
