The popular rock group, Huey Lewis and The News, has canceled all its remaining 2018 performances, including one scheduled for the Norsk Høstfest.
Lead singer Lewis is battling Meniere’s disease, a progressive loss of hearing that also results in bouts of vertigo.
“Two and a half months ago, just before a show in Dallas, I lost most of my hearing,” Lewis said in a post on his band’s Web site. “Although I can still hear a little, one on one, and on the phone, I can’t hear music well enough to sing. … Needless to say, I feel horrible about this, and wish to sincerely apologize to all the fans who’ve already bought tickets and were planning to come see us. I’m going to concentrate on getting better, and hope that one day soon I’ll be able to perform again.”
Lewis was originally scheduled to perform at Høstfest Friday, Sept. 28th.
“Norsk Høstfest is deeply disappointed to hear the news,” said Norsk Høstest President David Reiten in a post on the Høstfest Web site. “We wish Huey Lewis the best in his recovery and hope to announce our Friday night concert soon.”
