Hwy. 24 Shut Down Due to Flooding, Cannonball River to Crest by Thursday

News

Flooding in Sioux County has shut down Highway 24 west of Solen due to water on the roadway.

There is no signed detour and motorists are asked to use alternate routes.

That flooding is due to the Cannonball River and people in Sioux County are keeping a close eye on it, especially near Breien the next couple of days.

This is the Cannonball River near Breien.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the river until further notice.

As early as Thursday morning moderate flooding is expected.

The river is expected to crest at 20.6 feet sometime Thursday before receding.

That’s near a record level for flooding at the Cannonball River.
