Iconic Williston Store Front in Flames

News
And another fire to report tonight…a long-standing store in downtown Williston has gone up in flames.

Hedderich’s is an antiques store and museum in the downtown area.
Bystanders have described it as a downtown landmark.

One man even remarked to me ‘Half the history of Williston is probably in this store.’

The owner, Loye Ashton, has had the store for about 45 years.

His dental practice is also in the building.

I spoke with Ashton who told me he was the last to leave the building around 5:45 and everything appeared to be fine.

Around that same time, the Williston Police Department received a call for service about a fire on Main Street.

Law enforcement and the Williston Fire Department responded to the scene.

Nearby businesses were evacuated for safety.

You can see the scene behind me now.

The cause of this fire is still under investigation.
