Idle-only zones along Missouri River may last throughout boating season

Despite planned decreases to flows out of the Garrison Dam, restrictions are still in place for boating in Bismarck-Mandan.

Within 200 feet from the Missouri River banks, there are idle-only zones. It’s to minimize damage to property from the wake.  For those who ignore the restrictions, North Dakota Game and Fish is out giving citations.

“I would anticipate that the regulations will probably stay on for most or the rest of the summer. It’s all dependent upon what releases they have through the dam,” said Robert Timian, North Dakota Game and Fish chief game warden.

Timian says he’s received calls from residents complaining that boaters are ignoring the restrictions.
He says take pictures and send them in, so the enforcement division can attempt to take are of it.
