February 28th is the last day of Winter- Meteorological Winter that is.

Meteorological winter is a three month period that runs from Dec 1st to the end of February.

It is the coldest three month period of the year in the Northern hemisphere.

The calendar refers to spring as the day the sun crosses the Earth’s equator as it heads back North and that’s still three weeks away.

We spoke to some locals who were out enjoying the nice “last day of winter”.

“It’s mighty nice and to have a great day in February,” said Minot resident Christopher Keller.

“and for runners 30 degrees is just fine, it’s great,” said Minot resident Zeni Shabni.

Do want it to stay like this?
“Mkmm,” said 3rd -grader Jaylin Joyner.

“Yeah,” said 1st -grader Jergie Joyner.

“We go as often as we can we love to walk in this park when it’s winter cause it’s not busy, just get the dogs out of the house, cabin fever,” said Minot resident Kelly Leathes.
