Junior Olympics State Softball Tournament first round recap

The opening round of the USA Junior Olympics State Softball tournament at Clem Kelley Softball Complex on July 14.

In the early game, Mandan looked like the team that went to the state tournament during the high school. They capitalized off opponent mistakes en route to 12-5 victory over NC Legacy.

In the other 5 p.m. game, the Bismarck Rockets took on the Cass Trailblazers. The Rockets dominated on the mound and at the plate. They scored 12 runs on offense and didn’t allow a run on defense. Bismarck won 12-0.

The Bismarck Angeles were scheduled for a 7 p.m. game, but were rained out. Their game has been moved to 7:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The state tournament goes through July 16.
