After months of delays, a request for a change of venue, and even a judge recusing himself from the case, the felony jury trial of Chase Swanson and Madison West began Monday morning at the Stark County Courthouse.
The two defendants are accused of murdering Nicholas Johnson, a Rhame resident in their motel room in Bowman, back in the Summer of 2016.
Attorneys for both sides spent the entire day asking jurors if they can stay objective during a murder trial that is expected to last into next week,
About 30 jurors were brought in Monday, and 30 more are expected to show up Tuesday for selection.
Swanson and West are accused of two Class C felonies: Theft of property and firearm possession, and a Class AA felony for conspiracy to commit murder.
If convicted, they could face a maximum penalty of life in prison.
