LaMoure Police Chief charged in child sex crimes

The Police Chief in LaMoure has been charged with sex crimes in three different North Dakota counties.
James Watson was arrested Thursday in the cases.

In Stark County, Watson is charged with Continuous Sexual Abuse of a child.
He’s accused in court documents of sexual contact with a child under fifteen years of age.
The abuse lasted about a year and a half between 2011 and 2013.
An investigator with the BCI says the abuse was happening on a weekly basis.

In Hettinger County, Watson is charged with three counts of gross sexual imposition.
Two of those counts are AA felonies, the other a single A felony.
Court documents are not currently available in the case, but charges go back to 2013.

In Golden Valley County, Watson is charged with Continuous Sexual Abuse of a child.
A double A felony holds a maximum penalty of life in prison.
