Legislators Sworn Into Office Monday

Bismarck – It was a big day for nearly two dozen North Dakotans

That’s because 18 new members of the North Dakota House and Senate were officially sworn into office Monday afternoon.

One of those new members is representative Ruth Buffalo.

She’s the first Native American Democratic woman elected to the North Dakota house and tells KX News she’s ready to get right to work.

“As a freshman legislator, I look forward to learning the processes and also looking to introduce ummm, one bill at least, for sure. At this point we have meetings as early as today at 3pm to explore options for possible legislation” Said Buffalo.

Only one representative was absent from todays ceremony.

The new session gets under way, January 3rd.
