WDAY — Thousands of runners took over the streets of Fargo today for the Sanford Fargo Marathon.
This year was a little tougher than most. With temperatures in the 40’s and a bit of wind and rain, the weather was less than ideal for most runners.
But the runners say they’re happy to do it.
And they aren’t the only ones who got soaked, some dedicated spectators spent hours in the rain to cheer on the athletes.
While some are running for sport, others are running for a purpose. One runner says a little rain isn’t gonna stop her from honoring her daughter.
Runner Jade Rosenfeld explains, “That’s ok it’s fine, we’ll just deal with it, that’s just what it is. My daughter passed away about 18 months ago she was 3 months old and so we are running for her.”
About 18,000 people signed up to run this weekend. The record attendance is 22,000.
