Slower-than-expected construction around Central Campus means students will have to walk the last block to school for a few weeks.

The roads outside the school won’t be open when school starts Wednesday.

Pavement will be put down on 1st Street and 2nd Avenue during the first three days of school.

That means pick-up and drop-off will happen about a block away.

Parents are asked to travel up 2nd Street and come around on 3rd Avenue while the work is completed.

Project Manager Max Weppler says the top priority is keeping students safe.

(Max Weppler, Keller Paving Project Manager) “We want to keep everybody safe. We’ll have fences up and sidewalks and guards posted so they don’t take the wrong turn and get off where they shouldn’t be, so that’s our main objective is keep everybody safe.”

1st Street and 2nd Avenue should be open by the start of next week.

And within the next few weeks, roads around the school should be complete.
