Today was the third annual “Banking on the Food Bank.” Six local banks competed for a traveling trophy awarded by the Bismarck Emergency Food Bank. This year the food bank received over 28,000 food items and about $2,400.
BNC National Bank claimed the victory today.
“The main thing is to bring in the food for the pantry,” said Michelle Radke, BNC employee.
Clinton Vanfossen has been to the pantry a few times over the years. He says having them available is a comfort.
“Its a sense of relief that’s needed, especially going into the holiday season. Things can seem pretty bleak from time to time.”
The shelves in the food pantry get low, particularly when the holidays near. They were extremely grateful for the banks’ donations.
“This is a tremendous amount of food, but its amazing how fast it goes out,” said Sandi Crimmins, co-chair.
