Local Charities Look to you for Help this Giving Tuesday

After the hustle and bustle of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, charities from across the world are looking to their communities to give back.

Giving Tuesday is a social media call to those looking to make a difference and help start the giving season off right.

No matter if they feed the hungry or clothe their communities these charities are hoping you’ll spend this holiday paying it forward.

“Giving Tuesday is great in that it’s doubling your impact,” Amanda Schwieters, Missouri Valley Areawide United Way says.

Charities like United Way are looking to you for help this Giving Tuesday calling for volunteers and donations the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

Every dollar given to Missouri Slope Areawide United Way will be doubled up to $10,000 with donations going to help feed kids in the Bismarck-Mandan area.

“100 percent of your donation on Giving Tuesday will go to MSA United Way is going to go locally to our community to end childhood hunger,” Schwieters says.

Filling backpacks and feeding more than 1,000 kids.

But giving back doesn’t have to stop at the state line.

“All around the world El Salvador, Guatemala, the United States, Malawi, India , and we help them overcome poverty through housing, education and healthcare,” Hannah Tollefsrud,The God’s Child Project says.

The God’s Child Project says around the holidays is their biggest donation season– so jump starting people’s ability to give can set the tone for the whole year.

“It’s really just important to take the time to give back to your community this holiday season and it’s a great way to if you’re looking for a more meaningful gift for your family to teach your kids about philanthropy,” Tollefsrud says.

To teach the next generation it is truly better to give than to receive.
