Because farming can be such an isolating profession, the North Dakota Local Foods Conference began in 2005 as a way to bring farmers together.
Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring says it’s important to bring as many together as possible to discuss needs for the upcoming year.
The Commissioner took questions from the audience of farmers.
The biggest concern was marketing and exposure. Farmers asked for help in learning how to expand their operations.
Commissioner Goehring adds, “That’s probably the greatest aspect of this, is the fact that people are networking. They’re sharing the challenges they have or have had, and it actually encourages others to maybe, look at a different approach.”
Commissioner Goehring says his department is available to assist North Dakota farmers with growing their businesses.
