BISMARCK, N.D. (KXNET) — For so many animal shelters in winter, when severe weather hits, volunteers have to spend overnight shifts with the animals, to make sure they are safe and secure.

That is especially true in our region.

KX spoke to Sara Huft from Furry Friends Rockin Rescue in Bismarck, who is a volunteer there.

She told us what it takes to care for the animals day and night in a blizzard or winter storm.

Huft even shared one thing that would surprise someone about working in an animal shelter during a blizzard.
