Minot State University professors Robert Kibler and Dan Conn will travel to the National Writing Project Spring convention to represent the Red River Writing Project and the Northern Plains Writing Project.
They hope to secure more funding for writing institutes that help many teachers here in North Dakota.
The Northern Plains Writing Project and the Red River Valley Writing Project are based at Minot State and North Dakota state University. They are a part of 170 project sites across the nation.
The sites hold summer institutes for teachers to learn new ways to improve their writing curriculum, the institutes help teachers at all teaching levels
“The motto is different than most other help programs in that it doesn’t have experts come in to talk to teachers about what to do, rather teachers teach teachers,” said Kibler.
Both professors will represent the state of North Dakota they say these writing institutes are crucial to making better teachers.
