The Magic City Discovery Center in Minot is one step closer to having an permanent location. The center just received their biggest donation yet.

The Minot Area Community foundation contributed $750,000 to help with the construction of the new building which will be located on North Hill.

The 7 million dollar project is set to break ground next year.

“It’s science, technology, engineering arts and math but the kids don’t even realize that they’re learning and that’s what’s so exciting about our discovery center,” said board president for the center Mark Lyman

“We’re a younger community and that generation expects these kinds of activities and events for our community,” said Minot Area Community Foundation president Ken Kitzman.

The center currently operates out of a temporary location at the Dakota Territory Air Museum.
