Major Drug Bust on Highway Two

It could be one of the largest marijuana seizures in North Dakota history.

That’s what Berthold Police Chief Al Schmidt says about a bust this week that netted 122 pounds of high grade pot.

Schmidt says the discovery of the drugs followed a traffic stop on Highway Two near Berthold and resulted in the arrest of the man driving the vehicle.

The chief says he also discovered there had been a ‘lookout’ vehicle involved and he put out an alert that ended in the arrest of two other people as they traveled east into Pierce County.

Schmidt says the drugs seized have a street value of around $600,000.

The names of those arrested have not been released but Schmidt says they all face Class A Felony charges carrying maximum sentences of 20 years in prison.
