Man accused in Bismarck bomb threat has long history with law enforcement

A Rugby man is back under arrest for robbery and terrorizing, after making a bomb threat at a Bismarck bank Wednesday.

Rondal Heitsch is accused of walking into Starion Bank in downtown Bismarck, and claiming to have a bomb around 9:30 am.
Heitsch was arrested at about 10:15.

This is not Heitsch’s first run-in with law enforcement.
In 2016, he robbed Bremer Bank in south Bismarck and was later found hiding under the Expressway Bridge.
He was sentenced to 5 years 3 months in jail for that crime.
There are no federal court documents filed, on why Heitsch is currently out of prison, just two years later.

He is also scheduled for 3 years of federal probation.
In 1991, Heitsch attempted to escape from jail or prison twice and in 1992 he succeeded.
Heitsch has a slew of other offenses including forgery, theft and felony possession of a firearm.
