One of two men convicted in the attempted murder of a woman found wandering a road in Epping has been sentenced for the crime.
The prosecution recommended a life without parole sentence for David Mbulu.
The defense, however, requested a 25 year sentence with five years suspended.
After hearing a family impact statement from the victim’s mother as well as a statement made by Mbulu himself, Judge Joshua Rustad recommended a sentence of 40 years with 10 years suspended for the three class AA felonies-accomplice to gross sexual imposition, conspiracy to commit gross sexual imposition, and conspiracy to commit murder.
On the attempted murder charge, Mbulu was sentenced to 20 years.
All sentences will run concurrently.
Mbulu’s co-defendant, Jean-Michael Kisi, is scheduled to be sentenced for his involvement in the case next month.
