Mandan Police Arrest Shooting Suspect

Mandan Police say they’ve arrested who they believe is responsible for a shooting that happened Monday July 2nd. 

Thursday, July 5th around 1:40 p.m. Mandan Police say they attempted to make contact with 25-year-old Ryan Azure of Mandan in regards to that shooting. 

Azure fled from officers when they attempted to conduct a traffic stop at a high speed. He was caught a short time later after he lost control of the vehicle he was driving at the intersection of 2 St. NW and 1 Ave. NW. 

The 37-year-old man that was shot is being treated at a Bismarck hospital for injuries that are believed to be non-life threatening. The victim is still recovering at that hospital following surgery. 

Azure has been charged with a Class B felony of attempting to deliver a controlled substance of methamphetamine, eight Class C felonies, including aggravated assault, felon in possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm within city limits and attempting to flee a police officer. He’s also been charged with 5 Class B misdemeanors and a Class A misdemeanor.
