Mandan Public Schools has a big decision to make. The transportation department is considering contracting out their school buses.
Facilities and Transportation Director Ryan Lagasse says, right now Mandan owns the buses.
He says Mandan Public Schools is undergoing negotiations with Harlow’s Transportation Service. But until a decision is made in May, nothing is set in stone.
Lagasse explains, “Obviously our students are our number one priority. We would not be entering contract negotiations if we didn’t feel that our students would be serviced with the same or better care.”
If the buses are contracted out to Harlow’s, Mandan will try to continue housing the buses in the city.
Lagasse says they’ve been assured school district staff, including bus drivers, will be able to keep their jobs.
