Mandan City officials are reminding residents of their obligations to keep trees on their properties trimmed.

City Ordinance Sec. 115-4-7 requires any tree which over-hangs a city street within 14 feet or a sidewalk within 10 feet, measured vertically, has to be trimmed by the property owner.

“During this time of year, it’s common for street trees to hang too low over the street or sidewalk, causing problems for pedestrians, trucks, street sweepers, buses and eventually snow plows,” the city said in a statement.
