Mandan’s Restaurant Rewards Program Brings in New Businesses

There are several new businesses in Mandan expecting to open in the next few months. A few of those are thanks to a program that cuts business owners a tax break.

Balancing Goat Coffee in Northwest Mandan is under construction and expected to open in August. The space will include a 2,500 square foot café and a 500 square foot studio for yoga classes.

Balancing Goat Coffee is one of ten businesses in the area that’s participating in the Restaurant Rewards Program, encouraging business owners to choose Mandan. Mandan has also set aside $162,000 in 2016 for interest buy-downs to help increase restaurant options in the city.
Ellen Huber; City of Mandan Business Development: “The restaurant rewards program was specifically offering a rebate of a 1% local sales tax for the first 5 years of operation. It’s very much a performance-based incentive for restaurants.”

Copper Dog Cafe will be joining the Main Street scene this year, also taking advantage of the rewards program. They’re taking over the former Huntington Book Store, transforming it into a gourmet waffle cafe.
They’ll also have a fitness and gymnastics center on-site. Renovations are expected to begin soon with an open date set for this summer.

Through the Rewards Program, Old 10 Bar And Grill is under construction on Main Street, taking claim to the former Four Seasons Building. The restaurant will have a family-friendly and 21 and over section. The casual dining will offer a bit of everything, with an open date scheduled for June.

The application period for the incentive program ends on March 31st.
