Memorial Day Weekend Forecast Update | Friday 5/26

News
From the KX Storm Center:

Moderate to strong winds continue across the state today. Expect some calming overnight, but it will be breezy Saturday, then windy Sunday/Monday. This Memorial Day Weekend will bring a few more changes to our weather pattern. Scattered showers & thunderstorms are in the forecast Saturday as a weak front moves through the Northern Plains. This system will bring PM rain chances Saturday/Sunday. However, there will be no risk for severe weather. Instead, periods of off/on rain with a few thunderstorms may interrupt our holiday weekend. That being said, it will not be a wash-out and not everyone will get wet. By Sunday, more PM showers will roll through, before winds pick up again. It will be windy through the beginning of the work week. This includes Memorial Day. Though rain chances end, strong wind resume as the headline. By Tuesday, winds will be calming down as a ridge of high pressure slides East & over the plains states.
Through the latter half of the 7day outlook, this ridge of high pressure will remain anchored over the Dakotas and there will be another change to our weather pattern. Winds will become light with plenty of sunshine and dry conditions. A warming trend will set up and daytime high temperatures will climb through the 70s and into the 80s for some, by the end of next week. The only chances for rain in our extended planner include scattered PM showers & thunderstorms, this weekend..
